PECW (Positive Essex Comment of the Week): I was honored to be included in the ribbon cutting for Burlington Telecom's grand opening of a retail outlet in Post Office Square on Friday.
Talks on getting BT to come to Essex have been going on a long time, from back before my time on the Essex Economic Development Commission. Thank you, BT, for coming to Essex! And thank you to the EDC chairs before me: Greg Morgan, Jim Bernnegger, and Annie Cooper for getting this started.
One of the many things we (re-)learned during the pandemic was that broadband is a necessity for modern daily life. Even here in the 2nd largest town in Vermont, and the home of the largest tech employer in Vermont, there still are holes in our broadband network. Welcome BT!
If you want to get BT at your home? Go to their contact page (https://www.burlingtontelecom.com/support/contact-us/), and pick "I want BT on my street!" I'm told the more expressions of interest they get in a particular Essex neighborhoods will help drive where they run their fiber next.
