The news about the Supreme Court's likely undoing of Roe v Wade was a shock. I took those recently-appointed Justices at their word when they said they believed in honoring precedent. Lesson learned.
The good news, is that we're already working on it in Vermont. The Constitutional Amendment process in Vermont is four years long. A vote in two separate bienial legislatures, then a state-wide vote. The two votes have already passed; so the state-wide vote is on the ballot in November.
The amendment is called Article 22. I'm a strong supporter. I plan on voting yes in November, and I hope you join me.
Abortion is Health Care. And who am I to tell someone else what to do in the event of an unplanned pregnancy?
Here's some video from WCAX of Essex Resists standing up for the right to choose for Vermonters and our brothers & sisters in other states. I was pleased to show up in support. Kelly Adams did a great job speaking and organizing this vigil at Five Corners in Essex.
